Seven video cassettes record the U. of Arkansas Centers' symposium entitled The crisis at Central High School: a thirty year perspective on Little Rock and the Constitution. The Symposium sought to examine the process of school desegregation in Little Rock 30 years after the historic executive order (10730) signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Order ended segregation at Central High. Guest speakers at the Symposium some of the jornalists who covered the historic incident: John Ward, Robert R. Douglas, John R. Starr, and Thomas D. Davis. Other speakers include the Honorable Constance Baker Motley, and Daisy Bates (co-founder of the Arkansas State Press). Ms Bates supported the nine black students who were first to begin the integration process at Central High.

Daisy Bates, born Daisy Lee Gatson, born on November 11, 1914, Huttig, Arkansas, was a social activist and author. She married L. Christopher Bates, publisher of the Arkansas State Press, in 1942. The couple lived in Little Rock (Pulaski County) where they published their newspaper and were active in the Arkansas State Conference of the NAACP.
